In life, especially when you suffer from depression, it is important to grab a win whenever you can. If you laugh once in a day, that is a win. If only one thing goes right, that is a win. And if you’re lucky enough to have a person, place, or thing that always makes you happy, go out of your way to cherish it. My happy place is the beach.
I can’t go to the beach and not be happy. No matter what I’m going through, the water, the sand, and the sun makes it all ok. Since this summer began, all of my plans to go to the beach had been thwarted. Every weekend, either plans changed or it rained. Finally, I said enough is enough. I cancelled work and ignored my responsibilities, all for the beach. And it was so worth it.
I went with my sister and best friend. I finally went paddle-boarding for the first time. I tanned like an African goddess. I braved the freezing cold lake water. And most of all, I was happy. For every single second. Even when paddle boarding went wrong and I got stuck out at sea for far too long. Find your happy place. And fight for it. Go out of your way, ignore people, shirk your responsibilities, and go to your happy place. At least every once in a while.
My bikini is a cute little red number from Zaful. I paired it with sunglasses and a body chain from Aldo Accessories. My beautiful glow is all Fenty (I love you cousin RihRih), and I even went for a lil under boob. Life is good.
