New Makeup, New Me

As you know, we have been in a pani for nearly a year. Personally, while I’d much rather be safe than sorry, being in a lockdown was getting to me. I needed to do something to feel fresh, new, and alive again. So I made the responsible decision to put my emotional needs above my financial stability, and buy new makeup.

I had to make the purchase online, because the mall was closed, like everything else. I did a lot of research to find my perfect shade matches, and watched a lot of reviews to make sure I was buying good quality makeup. Sadly, the shipping was slow, and the delivery date got pushed back so far the mall actually opened in the time I was waiting for my purchase. However, when my package finally arrived I put a nice face together. Not all the products were perfect, but now that the mall is open I will be able to exchange them. In conclusion, I am happy I treated myself. For the full details on my products, keep reading!

I started out fresh faced and eager! I primed my face as usual, and then I started using my first new product, the NARS Natural Radiant Foundation in the shade New Caledonia! I applied it with a new beauty sponge from Morphe. I absolutely love this product; it just looks like beautiful, glowing skin. It isn’t cakey, and it makes my skin shine! I would absolutely recommend this foundation.

Next, I contoured my face and powdered as usual. The second new product I used was a bronzer from Charlotte Tilbury. This was the product that started my entire haul; I had really wanted a fresh new bronzer that wasn’t as red as the one I usually use. However, this new bronzer was barely visible on my skin, and when I did put more product on, it looked like I had fallen in dirt. I tried to lie to myself at first, but in the end, this will be a product that I will be returning.

The third new product I tried was a Morphe Blush Trio in the colours Pop of Pink. This was a mistake as well. The colours were all too light and chalky on my skin. I looked very sloppy but I powered through. Needless to say, I will be returning this product as well.

Fourth, I tried a new Fenty Beauty Flyliner Eyeliner pencil in colour Space Cookie. It is a metallic bronze colour, because I didn’t want to use a black eyeliner on my water line. It is a very nice product, and since first trying it, I have been getting even better at using it, and I really love this product! It goes on very smoothly, and looks beautiful.

Next, I tried a new Pat McGrath FetishEyes mascara! This was a product I had been eyeing for quite some time. However, it was on the pricier side ($40), and while I knew it wasn’t over priced considering the quality, it was difficult for me to make the purchase before now. However, I moved some numbers around and decided to take the plunge, and wow! It is a very good quality product, and I would say it is worth every penny. It lengthened my eyelashes, and doesn’t flake off. It is hard to give it justice with this description, but this is definitely one of the best makeup products I have ever used.

Finally, I completed my face with a new Morphe Continuous Mist setting spray. This is a product I have been using for months now. It is a wonderful setting spray that keeps your face in place, but doesn’t mattify, which is good for me as I prefer a dewy look.

Overall, I was very happy with the complete makeup look. Once I am able to exchange the two products I am unhappy with, I will be completely happy with all my new products. Had this been a very irresponsible endeavour I would not be too happy with myself right now. But I saved up and worked things out so that I could treat myself, and if you can do so, I really recommend treating yourself too, especially during these uncertain times. Peace and love!
