Recently, my siblings and I took the Pottermore quiz to see which Hogwarts house we would be sorted into (non-nerds leave now). My brother was sorted into Gryffindor first, and naturally, I wanted to be Gryffindor (the bravest) as well, ready to fight alongside my brother and Harry Potter! If not Gryffindor, I definitely wanted to be Ravenclaw (the smartest). And the very last thing I wanted to be was Hufflepuff (the rest).
When the Sorting Hat said Slytherin (the jerks), I honestly started screaming. “I’m Gryffindor! I’m Ravenclaw! I’m Gryffinclaw!” I just had to be one of those! I sat there throwing a fit until my sister finished her test and said she was Slytherin too! I changed immediately! We were sisters, best friends for life, in the same house! It was the greatest thing that could have ever happened to us!
And that’s when I started digging deeper into why I was Slytherin. A Slytherin’s main traits are resourcefulness, cunning, ambition, leadership, and self-preservation, among others. I saw those things in my sister right away, but every day I see them in myself more and more! I am a confident, strong, and independent woman. I can stand tall and lead when I want to, and I have taken care of myself through my entire journey. I am happy with my life but always striving for more. And quite frankly, sometimes I am just a cunning little witch. I love these things about myself! So for Halloween, there was nothing better for my sister and I to do than debut the real us: 🐍lytherin 🐍isters 🌑
I found the qualities in me that I had never thought of before. And at the end of the day, the bravest wizard of all, Severus Snape, was Slytherin, and I am honoured to be among such great company.
