Another winter is coming in quickly, and for a while I was feeling physically sick without knowing why. When a friend pointed out to me that it’s that time of the year to be extra depressed, I knew I couldn’t let myself get any worse! And so, I have been fighting seasonal depression, and quite frankly depression in general, with a lot of self care!
Hopefully by now we all know that self-care comes in many forms. It’s not just facial masks and bath bombs (although those do help!). Self-care also requires a lot of painful healing and habit breaking, among other things. At this point in my own journey, I am far from perfect, but taking it one step at a time. I make sure to get enough sleep. I have been going to the gym consistently, and kicking my own butt while I’m there. I have also started caring more for my physical appearance, doing my makeup every day, and even moisturizing my hair! Those things may be a regular part of most people’s routine, but I am only just starting to make them a regular part of mine. And it’s working! I pray I can keep this up!
